Absence & Tardiness
Absence & Tardiness
Regular, punctual attendance is part of a student’s formation. These are the rules parents and students are asked to follow.
- Late arrival to school is a breach of discipline. Students who come late to school habitually will not be granted attendance and may be sent back home.
- Pupil who come late for school and those who have been absent on the previous day must bring a letter of explanation from their parents and the reasons must be entered in the “Regularity Record” section. This letter will be first countersigned by the Principal and then will be handed over to the class teacher.
- If a student stays absent for more than 3 consecutive days then he/she must submit medical certificate along with the leave application.
- If a student stays absent for more than 15 consecutive days without any prior information having being given, his or her name gets automatically striken out from the school’s register and if he/she wants to come back he/she must take a new admission.
- It is mandatory for a student to attend the school on days marked as “Compulsory attendance”. In case of sickness the matter must be notified to the Principal.
- Children affected with infectious diseases must complete the quarantine period before re-joining school. This should be indicated on the Medical Certificate.
- Students who are on leave during the school day will not be allowed to visit teachers or hand in files or participate in games on that date.
- Students on study leave who wish to meet teachers or during school working days are expected to attend in school uniform.
- Absence from the school in order to study or to attend tuitions is never allowed.
- Leave of absence for birthdays, marriage feasts, and similar reasons is discouraged. However, leave must be applied for in advance which may be disallowed at the sole discretion of the Principal without assigning any reason thereof.
- Appointment with Doctors during school hours are not encouraged. Genuine cases will require supporting evidence. No gate pass will be issued during school hours.
Attendance also counts towards promotion — see Examination & Promotion.
